Featuring six tracks of Ricmond with His Organ Grinders Swing and twenty with him and his trademark Hammond Organ.The almighty Hammond organ, equally at home in funky blues roadhouses, sanctified churches and stadiums. One of the most iconic instruments in pop history. It has also maintained a tradition in easy-listening music, being a key instrument in the style both before and after the rock-&-roll era. During WW II, he had volunteered for service but was classed medically unfit. He performed regularly at the Paramount Cinema in London. From there, he made broadcasts and was also heard on the air from the BBC’s own theatre, the Criterion. On radio, he hosted his own Organ Grinder’s Show as well as appearing on variety and quiz shows on radio and TV. Sparked. Richmond will be best remembered not only for his music but also as the host of the popular BBC Radio 2 show - The Organist Entertains. He bowed out in 1979 and it remained a popular show. Richmond maintained his popularity through the years and he was still active in the organ world in the 90s.
